Vets forget how hard the game is, and especially with how hard it is now. So, I have an idea of series of rules to try eve out, as a vet, to emulate what it is like for a new player now in current Exordium. I put why as well on each of them. I have run into new players that ran into EACH of these things in the past two weeks alone. I have shared screens with people who are struggling with much worse than this, so it could be worse.
Fresh start - Must start on a new account, can give yourself 1 mil sp. New profile in the launcher. Newbie corp.
Take random advice - If you give yourself the 1 mil sp, must spend all that 1 mil sp on the Magic 14 that you currently have in your head when you start. Because this is the most common advice in rookie help. [1]
Rely on the game to guide you - Cannot use guides, because newbies struggle with instructions. Delay one day for anything you can't figure out to emulate a ticket.
Use the in game setup - Must use stock UI/overview, no moving windows around, stacking guns, or customization. Where ever things are, that's where they are. Anything in the tutorial or career agents specifically is fair game.
Newbies don't use controls well - You will use the mouse in your non-dominant hand, No keyboard. This emulates the delays that newbies have.
Newbies play on small screens - Set your screen to windowed mode and as small as it will go.
Newbies struggle to see the UI - Under Escape / User Interace / Change Font Size to Large. Emulates a hard to use UI.
Newbies don't get help - No outside help, obviously. Donations, return them. Note, some do, but a lot don't because they just don't interact.
Newbies make mistakes - Once every two days, delete one random ship and 3 random items. Can be anywhere in the game. This is to symbolize the mistakes they make. google - `random number 1-100` or however many of the different things. Try to not rig this.
Newbies don't sell things - Newbies struggle to know what to sell, so they just don't. So can sell only 3 items a day.
Newbies don't risk things (smartly) - You are not to enter low, null, wormholes for any reason. If you do by accident, self destruct your ship and everything on you. it's gone.
Newbies don't know what makes money - You can only do the career agents, Mining, or <L3 missions. No exploration, no soe epic arc, no abyssaling. [1]
Newbies go slow - Play limited to 1 hour a day, for one week. Must just close the game at 1 hour. See where you are at the end.
I'll most likely try to do this at some point myself, but i know the current problems with the Career Agents and tutorials in Exordium and the surrounding markets, so might be easier for me. Going in blind to missions is not fun either. :D
If you do a video series on this, let me know, and I'll link it here:
